Gas prices: Another week, another day, another decrease at the pumps

Gas prices decreased again on Tuesday, with the national average for a gallon of regular gas falling to $3.261. This is a decrease from Monday’s price of $3.27. Tuesday’s price was also cheaper than this time last week, when it cost $3.325, and a month ago, when gas was $3.45. Furthermore, Tuesday’s price for regular gas is the lowest it has been since the winter.

Prices continue to fall across the country, and there are now 11 states where the average price for regular gas is below $3 per gallon: Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, South Carolina, and Kansas. North Carolina is on the verge of being the 12th state, with a price of $3.001 per gallon for regular gas.

Gas prices remain an important issue heading into the 2024 presidential election . With President Joe Biden deciding not to seek reelection, Vice President Kamala Harris , now the Democratic presidential nominee, has to indicate how she will address the country’s high gas prices and energy costs and how both affect the economy and people’s finances.
