Mississippi AG joins coalition against assault rifle ban

JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Attorney General Lynn Fitch (R-Miss.) has joined 28 other states in filing an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court.

The brief asks the court to take up the case of Snope v. Brown in which the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Maryland’s ban on hundreds of styles of firearms, including the AR-15.

“The language of the Second Amendment is unambiguous and clear. The Fourth Circuit’s decision undermines both individual rights and the very principles of our Second Amendment,” said Fitch. “I am proud to stand with AG Labrador and my colleagues from across the country in defense of this fundamental freedom.”

In May 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear a challenge to Maryland’s law.
