Winter Storm Watch Issued for Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia Amid Forecasts of Heavy Snow and Ice

The National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC has issued a Winter Storm Watch effective from Sunday evening through late Monday night, advising residents in Washington DC, central, southern, and western Maryland, central, northern, and northwest Virginia, and eastern West Virginia of the potential heavy snow, possible sleet, and freezing rain. In the NWS announcement, officials stated, “Total snow and sleet accumulations of 5 inches or greater and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch possible.” There is also a localized area that could see up to 10 inches of snow.
