Lynn Cancer Survivor Wins $189,342 Lottery Prize, Will Put Winnings Toward Mom’s Medical Care Too

A $20 bet on an online lottery game turned into a $189,342 windfall for a Lynn man at a time of great need. Mark King, a cancer survivor, won the prize playing Wheel of Bonuses and plans to put the winnings toward both his own medical care and his mother’s.

King’s win was playing Wheel of Bonuses, an online-only eInstant game available through Mass Lottery Online, according to the Fall River Reporter. The outlet reports that King is a cancer survivor who intends to direct the money toward his own treatment costs as well as his mother’s medical care.

Wheel of Bonuses is played entirely through Mass Lottery Online, which means King didn’t walk into a convenience store or gas station to buy a ticket. Instead, the game is accessed through a Mass Lottery Player Account, which can be created at masslottery.com or through the Mass Lottery app on a mobile device or tablet, per the same account.

Who Can Actually Play

Playing the online game comes with its own set of rules. Mass Lottery Online players must be at least 21 years old and physically located in Massachusetts when playing and depositing money into their account, according to the Massachusetts Lottery Helpdesk. Those age and location requirements apply across the Mass Lottery Online platform, not just to Wheel of Bonuses specifically…
