HOLYOKE – As the late autumn light fell over the greens at Wyckoff Country Club, golfers took their final putts and swings before the course closed permanently over the weekend.
“It’s a sad day in Holyoke,” said Marc Joyce, a longtime Holyoke community leader and former Ward 7 City Councilor. “I have been golfing here for close to 30 years.”
Joyce sat around an outdoor table Thursday, drinking post-game beers with friends he’s been golfing with for decades, most in their 70s. Some recalled playing at Wyckoff on high school teams. Others reminisced about buddies they golfed with over the years who have since died…
