Thousands of meals donated to families in need

NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — Several local community service groups are working together to provide meals for those in need throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern, Massachusetts.

As part of the 10,000 meals program, volunteers packaged individual meals for distribution.

The Kiwanis Clubs of Newport, Fall River, and Kent County, worked alongside The Center for Community Engagement and Service at Salve Regina University to host the End Hunger New England meals package event on Friday.

Volunteers from Salve Regina University and local Kiwanis Clubs packaged 10,000 meals that were distributed to Child and Family Supportive Housing, Conexion Latina Newport, Newport Housing Authority, and St. Paul’s Church community meals.
