(MA) If ever there was a dog that deserved a chance at a happy life, it is Athena. This poor angel was subjected to unbelievable cruelty by her former owners which ultimately resulted in her becoming disabled. Still, despite hardship after hardship, this 3-year-old pup is still described by her foster as “honestly the sweetest most loving girl in the world. Her resilience is honestly an inspiration.” She will shortly be transported to Massachusetts, where she hopes to find her furever family.
What Hardships Did Athena Overcome?
Athena’s story is one of the hardest ones I have written about. Trigger warning for animal cruelty.
Athena’s former “owners” kept her tied up outside constantly. The line that kept this poor girl perpetually chained at some point got wrapped around her leg, cutting off her circulation. This was left unnoticed for so long her leg eventually fell off. As if this was not enough, the leg continued to go untreated after this.
