State officials tour Ludlow mobile home park after “unjust rent increase” of 150%

LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts State Senator Jake Oliveira and State Representative Aaron Saunders toured the grounds of West Street Village in Ludlow on Monday with a housing attorney in the hopes that they can appeal a rent increase with the Ludlow Rental Control Board.

Residents voice concerns over 150% rent hike, living conditions at Ludlow mobile home park

For nearly 20 years, the West Street Village Mobile Home Community has paid the same amount in rent. Each of the 44 units paid $207 a month for their property, that was until their new property manager raised rates by 150%. The proposed increase is $503 per month, an “unjust rent increase,” that Senator Oliveira and Rep. Saunders vow to fight against.

Senator Jake Oliveira told 22News, “The increases that they are justifying for, it is for paving the roadway, putting up fencing along the road. That doesn’t add to the quality of life of the residents here and so you want to have value and the most bang for your buck, but when you see those increases, it just doesn’t justify it.”
