Failed Hunting Puppy Left To Fend For Himself

(MA) It is truly shocking how many wonderful dogs are abandoned by people who were supposed to protect and love them. Tux, a 10-month-old Labrador Retriever & Pointer mix, is no exception. This handsome boy had a very tough start to life but thankfully is now safely in foster care. He will shortly be transported to Massachusetts where he hopes his new family awaits.

Why Was Tux’s Early Life Tough?

According to Great Dog Rescue New England, Tux is thought to be a failed hunting dog, whose owner left him to fend for himself. While still a puppy, Tux was left to survive at a deer camp out in the Mississippi countryside. Luckily, everyone who encountered him at the camp loved him and showed him kindness.

Despite being given deer meat by strangers, when Tux came into rescue he was malnourished. As a result, Tux’s growth pattern was affected resulting in some slight issues with his gait.

“They fed him deer meet there, so when he finally came into rescue he was a bit malnourished. It seems to have affected his growth pattern just a little as his gait was a little off in his back legs when he first came into rescue. With proper nutrition it has improved dramatically in just a short time.” – Great Dog Rescue New England / Petfinder
