Tuesday nor’easter with snow, wind and coastal flooding

MONDAY SUN

Enjoy the tranquil weather today. Above average temperatures will continue Monday under mostly sunny skies. Highs will reach the upper 40s to lower 50s.

NOR’EASTER

Get ready for a classic winter storm on Tuesday. The storm will arrive early in the morning around 4 AM and peak between 7-3 PM with snowfall rates of 2″+ per hour at times. Snow will lighten and taper off late afternoon or evening. We are looking at significant snowfall along with coastal flooding and strong gusts.

SNOW: A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for much of MA for a widespread 9-12″ snowfall. Initially a mix or rain may briefly fall in Boston and along the coastline, but a flip to snow won’t take long with with colder air getting dragged in. By 7 AM it should start to stick in Boston and add up quickly.

Temperatures above freezing will lead to early mixing and very slushy accumulation in the morning for parts of southeastern MA. The snow will be very heavy and wet, adding up to 5-9″ range along the immediate South Shore and southern coastline. The Cape will be limited to 2-5″ due to prolonged rain/mixing with a bit less on Nantucket.
