According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Kevin Kangethe was wanted for allegedly killing his girlfriend, whose body was found in an SUV at Logan International Airport last October. Kangethe left Kenya on Sunday and is set to face murder charges at Suffolk Superior Court on Tuesday.

His girlfriend, Margaret Mbitu, was a health care aide in Halifax and was last seen leaving work on October 30th and reported missing by her family. The preliminary investigation showed she had left her workplace and traveled with Kangethe to Lowell. Kangethe was also found in possession of personal items belonging to the deceased.

Kangethe was also involved in an escape from a police cell after his Kenyan lawyer visited him in January, according to the Associated Press. Disciplinary action was taken against the four police officers who were on duty when he escaped. He was rearrested a week later, and his extradition case continued.
