FBI warns Sec. of the Commonwealth about “suspicious packages”

BOSTON (WWLP) – The Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth received word from the FBI that a suspicious package was intercepted from being delivered to a state building on Tuesday.

Massachusetts is not alone–suspicious packages have been sent to election officials in at least 15 states.

One suspicious package, sent to the Colorado Secretary of State was sent from the quote “U-S Traitor Elimination Army.” The National Association of Secretaries of State says it is similar to those sent to other states. The group condemned these packages, and the apparent second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

“This must stop, period,” said the National Association of Secretaries of State. “Our democracy has no place for political violence, threats or intimidation of any kind.” Thus far, no injuries or hazardous materials have been reported, and several white powdery substances in letters were determined to be flour.

A spokesperson for the F-B-I Boston Office said their office is “working with [their] partners to determine how many letters were sent, the individual or individuals responsible for the letters, and the motive behind the letters… the public can be assured safety is our top priority.”
