Massachusetts animal shelter takes in stray kitten with broken thighs

BOSTON (WWLP) – A kitten that was dropped off at an animal shelter in Massachusetts requires surgery after discovering that both femurs were broken.

MSPCA-Angell, a non-profit veterinary care and adoption center, told 22News that a 7-month-old domestic shorthair kitten was brought to their medical facility last Tuesday as a stray. The kitten, known as Callahan, needs major surgery to repair his two back legs that have broken femurs.

“We likely will never know how Callahan suffered these injuries,” explained Dr. Rebecca Fellman, MSPCA shelters chief medical officer. “All we know at this point is that he needs surgery as soon as possible. We’re keeping him comfortable as best we can with pain medication, but the sooner we’re able to repair his legs, the better.”
