The deaths of two snowy owls, one in Rhode Island and one in Massachusetts, have saddened bird watchers and left some wondering if the birds were victims of bird flu. A snowy owl was reported dead recently off Napatree Point in Westerly, and another has died in Duxbury, Massachusetts. The deaths came as concerns increase over the spread of the H5N1 strain of avian influenza .
