Michigan board mulls $50M grant for new Upper Peninsula copper mine

Michigan is considering whether to grant $50 million to support the development of a new copper mine in the Upper Peninsula. The Michigan Strategic Fund heard from Highland Copper about a proposed $425 million mine during a special Tuesday, Jan. 30 board meeting. The board ultimately tabled the grant by voting to refer the project to the Finance and Investment Subcommittee for further review.
