LANSING, Mich. (WNEM) – Over 550 illegal guns have been taken off the streets as part of Operation Safe Neighborhoods, according to the governor’s office. Since the operation began, law enforcement officials have done 5,331 check-ins with felony offenders, taking illegal guns. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s office said officers have also recovered drugs and ammunition.
