DETROIT — Issued by the National Weather Service at 2:40 AM EDT on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

A Pleasant Saturday Before the Storm

Southeast Michigan is in for a beautiful fall Saturday with high pressure and sunny skies, bringing mild temperatures of upper 60s to low 70s. Areas closer to the lakes, including Metro Detroit and Monroe, may feel slightly cooler. Inland, temperatures could rise to the mid-70s as the day progresses.

The calm won’t last long, though, as a cold front approaches late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Scattered Showers, Gusty Winds, and Thunderstorms

By Saturday night, the weather pattern shifts dramatically with scattered showers and a chance of thunderstorms expected. The Thumb and Tri-Cities regions may experience wind gusts up to 35 mph as a southwest wind develops overnight. Other areas, including Saginaw and Flint, could see gusts between 25 and 30 mph.
