While many people will head to Michigan ski resorts for ski or snowboard, there are plenty of people who look forward to sliding down a hill in other ways.
In Michigan, another popular winter pastime involves snow tubing, which, according to Borer Lift AG , a designer in snow support vehicles, involves getting into a large inflatable ring-shaped tube and sliding down a snowy incline, landing safely on a soft snowbank.
Snow tubing is just one of Michigan’s wintertime pursuits. The state is home to more than 6,500 miles of snowmobile trails, and 3,000 miles of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails in more than 100 state parks and recreation areas, drawing 123 million visitors in 2023.
Winter tourists spent $29.3 billion in communities and destinations across the state in 2023, resulting in a total economic impact of $53.2 billion according to an independent study by Tourism Economics.
Here are a few places you can snow tube — or take part in other activities such as sledding or luge — in Michigan.
