Ending at midnight: Giving Hearts Day

MINOT, N.D. ( KXNET ) — Giving Hearts Day takes place in North Dakota and North Western Minnesota to collect donations that go to support local non-profits.

In 2023, leaders say more than 42,000 donors raised more than $21 million for local charities.

The Dakota Medical Foundation out of Fargo, which started Giving Hearts Day, does not match donations for the different organizations that are participating, so each non-profit has to come up with a $3,000 match on its own.

In Minot, they all work as a team.

“So locally, you know we have a collaborative that participates in the Minot area and there are 13 non-profits in our local non-profit collaborative,” said Tim Knutson, the director of development at Dakota Hope Clinic.

Some of these include Dakota Hope Clinic, Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports and Physical Therapy, Youthworks, and the Men’s Winter Refuge, just to name a few.

This year, The Dakota Hope Clinic has a goal of $50,000, and they are halfway there.

All the contributions they receive will be used to educate people about their resources like ultra-sounds and pregnancy tests.
