Pictures: Minnesota treated to stunning Northern Lights show Thursday night

A severe geomagnetic storm produced another round of Northern Lights across the upper half of North America, with Minnesotans among those treated to a spectacular show Thursday night.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a rare G4 level storm watch ahead of Thursday night’s activity, with auroral activity peaking at between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Here was the view as far south in Minnesota as New Prague, where Bring Me The News sports writer Jonathan Harrison was watching.

But the lights could even be seen – albeit with the aid of a cellphone camera – in the bright lights of the Twin Cities, with the picture below taken from Minneapolis by Bring Me The News editor Adam Uren.
