E. coli outbreak linked to organic carrots reaches Texas. See which brands are recalled

The Centers for Disease Control is alerting the nation that an E. coli outbreak in carrots is spreading to several states, including Texas.

A CDC investigation found that Grimmway Farms was the main supplier of organic carrots consumed by individuals who were getting sick.

The E. coli outbreak connected to organic carrots has left at least 38 people sick and one person dead, federal health officials reported.On Saturday, Grimmway Farms — one of the largest producers of carrots in the world — initiated a recall for multiple brands of organic baby and whole carrots.

How many states were included in the E. coli investigation?

According to the CDC, cases emerged between Sept. 6 and Oct. 28 across 18 states, with Washington, Minnesota and New York reporting the highest number of E. Coli cases.

The CDC forewarned that the outbreak would likely reach other states, and the actual number of infected individuals would likely be much higher than reported.
