JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A new analysis from HelpAdvisor revealed that Mississippi is the third most expensive state for groceries.
According to the report, the average Mississippi household spends $290.64 per week.
The average family in America spends roughly $270.21 at the grocery store per week.

That number increases when children are factored in; HelpAdvisor found that households with children spend an average of $331.94 a week at the store, or 41% higher than households without children.
“I mean at the end of the day, you have to do what you got to do to provide for your family. However, it’s insane how your simple grocery list that costed at least $100 years ago now costs $200,” said Latonya Reed, who lives in Mississippi.
