Four South MS restaurants fail health inspections. One was for insects, rodents or animals

Four restaurants failed their restaurant inspections in the final days of January, putting the total to 13 restaurants cited for critical violations since the start the year.

In comparison, nine restaurants scored a failing C grade in December and a year ago, seven restaurants failed their restaurant inspection in January 2023.

Restaurants and other food service establishments in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if violations are corrected during the inspection and “C” if the violations are critical.

The vast majority of restaurants passed their January inspection with an A. The health department gave 255 kitchens an A and 48 a B.

These are the most recent restaurants cited:

▪ Insects, rodents or animals present

Corrected during the inspection were:

▪ Sewage wastewater properly disposed

During a follow-up inspection the same day, the violation was corrected and the restaurant was given a B.
