A woman from Mississippi has been arrested and charged with grand theft and passing a counterfeit check after a stolen check worth over $15,000 was traced back to her. In April 2023, a construction company in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, mailed a check for $15,567 to a vendor. The check was stolen before it reached its intended recipient. The theft was reported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office in May 2024.
