Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms Developing Across Parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama

Heavy Frost Possible Overnight Across Sections of Oklahoma

11/13/24 4:21pm EST

Good afternoon everyone. Heavy showers and thunderstorms are lifting to the north/northeast across areas of Louisiana, Mississsippi, and Alabama as energy from the Gulf of Mexico surges north ahead of a cold front.

Locally strong winds, small hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, is expected across the forecast areas; including the risk of a few funnel clouds also. This is in response to tropical energy being pulled up by a strong cold front with relatively cooler/colder air behind it.

Look for scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms to continue, and we could also see some of that action reach Tennessee and the panhandle of Florida as well. As that front continues to push eastward, scattered showers and thunderstorms may also reach parts of Georgia overnight toonight and/or tomorrow.

Behind it, colder air overnight will be a hazard for Oklahoma, with temperatures dropping to the near-freezing realm. With clear skies and light winds, radiational cooling will take hold, causing a concern for some heavy frost overnight. Frost may cause possible damage to late-season crops and plants.
