In Warren County and across the country next Wednesday, Nov. 11, ceremonies will be held in recognition of Veterans Day. Before that happens, however, one of the last living World War II veterans in the area will mark a less solemn occasion: Julius Jacquot is turning 103.
Today, Jacquot is a resident at Oak Pointe Assisted Living, where staff and family members will celebrate a few days before his actual birthday on Nov. 9.
Although he moved to Warrenton more than two decades ago, Jacquot grew up in East St. Louis, living through the Great Depression before being drafted into the Army in 1943…
