(KOAM) – The Justice Department has filed a civil injunction suit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas aimed at permanently barring Mayuen K. Ajak, Yier B. Deng, Bol C. Guot, Gabriel M. Kuot, and Golden D4 Heart Tax Services LLC from operating a tax preparation business and preparing tax returns.

U.S. v. Ajak et al Filed Complaint

The complaint also seeks to have the defendants return the fees they obtained by allegedly preparing false or fraudulent tax returns.

According to the complaint, Ajak, Deng, Guot, and Kuot established Golden D4 Heart Tax Services LLC in Texas in 2018. They currently run tax preparation stores in Texas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Arizona under the name Golden Heart Tax Services LLC.

The complaint alleges that the defendants, along with others acting on their behalf, prepared and filed tax returns that falsely inflated customers’ refunds. The defendants allegedly profited through high, often undisclosed preparation fees, to the detriment of customers and the Treasury. The IRS estimates that the defendants’ misconduct could result in more than $10 million in underreported income and unpaid taxes.
