Mass Layoffs Hit Missouri: Hundreds to Lose Jobs

Brake manufacturer Otscon is closing a plant in Columbia in October, which will lead to the mass layoff of employees working there

Under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, an employer with more than 100 full-time workers must provide a 60-day notice before laying off 50 or more people at a single site.

Otscon filed a notice with the Missouri Office of Workforce Development advising that all 160 employees working at the Columbia plant will lose their jobs when the facility closes.
