Gas prices drop in Missouri ahead of holiday travel rush

MISSOURI (KOAM) — AAA data shows gas prices are on the decline ahead of the busy holiday travel this weekend.

According to AAA , the statewide gas price average in Missouri is $3.04 per gallon of regular unleaded gas. AAA Missouri Weekend Gas Watch says drivers in Jefferson City are paying the most on average at $3.24 while drivers in Joplin are paying the least at $2.89 per gallon. The national average is sitting at $3.36.

“The statewide gas price average is 46 cents less per gallon compared to Labor Day last year,” said AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria. “That’s good news for drivers planning road trips this weekend, though pump price declines may soon be over.”

AAA says drivers in Missouri are paying the 9th lowest gas price average in the country.
