Governor Jim Pillen of Nebraska recognized three college entrepreneur teams in the inaugural Nebraska Governor’s New Venture Competition. The event, held on a Thursday evening, was organized by the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Invest Nebraska, Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD), and the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. The winners were Privy AI, Cattle Kettle, and Dyslexico.
Governor Pillen commended the participants’ entrepreneurial spirit, stating that entrepreneurs are vital to the economy. He admired the courage and determination shown by the competitors and noted the competition’s role in promoting innovative ideas.
K.C. Belitz, Director of the Department of Economic Development, agreed with the Governor. He stressed the growing importance of local entrepreneurs in Nebraska’s economy and the state’s support for them through initiatives like this competition.
Nineteen teams of students from various Nebraska universities participated in the competition. They presented their ideas virtually to judges, who selected eleven teams as finalists. These teams then pitched their business ideas in person at the Nebraska State Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting on February 1.
