Governor Jim Pillen of Nebraska recently visited the Texas border at Eagle Pass. He joined 13 other Republican Governors to discuss border security issues in a briefing on Operation Lone Star. This briefing was led by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Texas border security officials. During the briefing, Governor Pillen expressed concern over the federal government’s handling of the border situation. He called for a united effort among governors to address the illegal drug trade, weapons, and human trafficking.

The meeting was part of a larger initiative involving 24 governors. They have collectively expressed concern over the Biden administration’s handling of its constitutional duties to the states. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported during the briefing that they have seized over 458 million doses of fentanyl and made more than 38,700 arrests, leading to 35,100 felony charges.

Governor Pillen highlighted the seriousness of the southern border situation. He described it as a national security concern and a growing humanitarian issue. He assured Texas of Nebraska’s continued support and stated that Nebraska will stand with Governor Abbott and other governors who are taking action on the issue.
