Nebraska Medical Cannabis Could Boost Local Economy by $925 Million, Says Report

Regulating medical cannabis in Nebraska could generate over $925 million in new economic activity, according to research by Vicente LLP, a leading law firm specializing in cannabis law and policy. The report, released in collaboration with Nebraska Families 4 Medical Cannabis (NF4MC), highlights the economic benefits tied to Initiatives 437 and 438, which aim to establish legal protections for patients and caregivers and create a regulated medical cannabis marketplace.

Andrew Livingston, Director of Economics and Research at Vicente LLP, noted that medical cannabis sales could begin in mid-2026, with the state registering over 93,000 patients by 2030. Projections estimate that cannabis sales will exceed $152 million annually by that time, supporting local workers and businesses across Nebraska.

The initiatives, backed by a coalition of families, patients, and state senators, offer the potential to benefit both the state’s economy and the health of its residents.
