Why abortion access is a personal finance issue, says demographer who studies the effects of unwanted pregnancy

Diana Greene Foster led The Turnaway Study, a landmark research study on the socioeconomic outcomes for Americans who are “turned away” from abortion. Foster, a demographer and professor at the University of California San Francisco, found higher instances of poverty and a greater likelihood of bankruptcies and evictions for women who couldn’t get an abortion.
