HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – It’s a battle between the colder air to the north and much unseasonably warm air to the south as we have a stationary front draped from northeast to northwest across the state. Spoiler alert, the colder air will eventually win out. But before it does, winds will be howling in south central and eastern parts of the state this evening into the overnight. Winds will be sustained out of the south ahead of the front between 20 and 30 mph with gusts to as high as 50 mph. The strongest winds will be in eastern and southeast Nebraska where a wind advisory remains in effect until 7am Wednesday morning. Winds will begin to back off in south central spots after midnight and then slowly back off in southeast areas by mid morning Wednesday. There’s a low-end chance of severe weather late tonight over south central and eastern areas. Low temperatures tomorrow morning will dip into the 30s out west. However, they will remain in the 50s and 60s over southeastern areas ahead of and near the front. Just behind the cold front, temperatures will slip back into the 40s.
