Another 24 hours of arctic air before some temperature moderation later in the week

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – A weak clipper system has brought clouds in from the northwest. Much of the area will experience mostly cloudy skies with only a few breaks in the clouds at times. While the clouds did bring temperatures up by around sunrise, chillier air is moving in from the north with this clipper system. It may also be bringing a few flurries or some very light snow. High temperatures today will only reach the mid 10s to the mid 20s with the coldest highs in North Central Nebraska. North northwest winds will become a bit breezy at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph. Skies will clear up this evening, but areas of low clouds and fog may try to develop later in the night. It will be a cold night with lows down between -5° and 5°. Even with lighter winds, wind chill values may get down to around -5° to -15°. The fog may be stubborn for those that get it tomorrow morning, otherwise, it’ll be a sunny day. For those that do get fog, it should burn off by the end of the morning. This should give all of the area a sunny afternoon. Slightly breezy west southwest winds will help to warm things up a little. The coldest highs will be over North Central and Northeast Kansas as well as Southeast Nebraska where the snowpack is deeper. Highs here will only be in the low to mid 20s. For most of the rest of the area, highs will be in the upper 20s and low to mid 30s. The best temperatures will be over the western half of Nebraska.
