December was a record-breaker for Nevada casinos

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – December used to be a rather sleepy time in Las Vegas, but December of 2023 will go down instead as an all-time gaming record-setter.

Numbers released Tuesday by Nevada’s Gaming Control Board showed that the state won a record $1.43B from players in December. The Strip’s take was $905.4M, $70M better than the all-time record set back in July.

Record wins were also seen in several other areas, including downtown Las Vegas and Mesquite

Previously, the only events in town in December had been the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and the build up to New Year’s Eve. This past December added a couple of Raiders’ games, concert residencies by U2 and Garth Brooks, an in-season NBA tournament at T-Mobile Arena, Vegas Golden Knights games, UFC 226, plus the openings of the Fontainebleau and Durango Hotels.

For all of 2023, the state raked in $15.5B from gamblers, up 4.6% from 2022.
