Spooner Lake Park to Host the Bear Fest in Lake Tahoe!

The Tahoe Interagency Bear Team (TIBT) and the Nevada Division of State Parks are joining together to host the inaugural Tahoe Bear Fest on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Spooner Lake State Park. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., this family-friendly event aims to educate the public on how to coexist with bears in the Tahoe Basin.

Starting at 11:30 a.m., bear experts will lead informative sessions every 30 minutes. According to the website, representatives from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, California State Parks, Pathways for Wildlife, and the Nevada Department of Wildlife will share information on bear behavior, and safety.

Visitors can stop by booths offering interactive activities and information about bear safety.

Bear-Resistant Refuse Education
A very important part of living in bear country is knowing how to store food and dispose of garbage properly. The event teaches visitors and residents how to use bear-resistant containers to reduce bear encounters.
