Wind, Thunderstorms, Dropping Temperatures on the Horizon for Southern Nevada

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas reports a shift in weather patterns as a broad trough approaches the region this weekend. South and southwest winds will pick up starting Sunday, and moisture moving up the Colorado River Valley may lead to slight chances of showers and thunderstorms, particularly in eastern Mohave County.

Key Weather Changes:

  • Wind Advisory: Sustained winds of 20-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected Sunday afternoon. A Lake Wind Advisory for Lake Mead and Lake Mohave is in effect from noon Sunday to 8 PM Monday due to these conditions.
  • Possible Thunderstorms: Moisture from Tropical Storm Ileana could bring a modest increase in surface dewpoints and a slight chance of thunderstorms on Sunday, mainly east of Kingman.
  • Temperature Drop: Temperatures are forecasted to fall well below normal by Tuesday, with unsettled weather continuing through Friday as a reinforcing low-pressure system moves into southern Nevada midweek.
