Amidst public outrage, Nevada Republicans’ recent legislative votes have put them at odds with the majority of their constituents, as they oppose key healthcare and reproductive rights bills.

Nevada Republicans Oppose Popular Health Legislation, Spark Controversy

Nevada Republicans are under fire for voting against a series of bills aimed at lowering prescription drug costs and safeguarding access to reproductive healthcare. During the latest legislative session, Republicans opposed AB250, a bill designed to reduce prescription drug prices, and AB383, which would have protected access to contraception in the state. Despite being passed by the Democrat-led legislature, AB250 was vetoed by Republican Governor Joe Lombardo, who subsequently received nearly $100,000 in campaign contributions from major pharmaceutical companies.

The controversy doesn’t end there. Republicans also uniformly voted against SJR7, a measure intended to let voters decide on enshrining the right to reproductive health care, including abortion, into the state constitution. This move has drawn sharp criticism, as it effectively prevents Nevadans from securing these rights through a direct vote.
