Warm Temperatures Persist in Northern Nevada Despite Brief Cooldown

Reno, NV – The National Weather Service reports that unseasonably warm temperatures will continue across Northern Nevada and northeast California, with a slight cooldown expected on Monday before rising again well above average mid-week.

Today’s highs are forecasted to reach the mid to upper 80s in the lower valleys, while Sierra valleys will see temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. A weak cold front passing through the region will bring a minor drop in temperatures, approximately 2-4 degrees cooler, but still above seasonal averages. Northeasterly winds will pick up this afternoon, with gusts reaching 25-35 mph in mountain ridgelines and near the Oregon border.

As the week progresses, a strong ridge will settle over the area, causing temperatures to soar again, with highs peaking around 10-15 degrees above average by Wednesday. The chances of breaking record highs are significant, particularly with a 20% chance of exceeding Tuesday’s record of 93 degrees and a 90% chance of surpassing Wednesday’s record of 90 degrees.
