The National Weather Service in Las Vegas reports that the Mojave Desert will experience cool and dry conditions through Friday, October 31, 2024. A weather system is set to arrive over the weekend, bringing increased winds, chances of rain, and light mountain snowfall.
Today and tomorrow, temperatures are expected to remain slightly below normal with quiet weather. However, on Saturday, the incoming system will bring breezy southwesterly winds, shifting to northwesterly as the trough moves through. Areas such as Esmeralda and Nye counties, along with Death Valley and the Colorado River Valley, could see wind gusts reaching advisory criteria of over 40 mph from Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Precipitation chances will be heightened, especially in Lincoln County, Nevada, and Mohave County, Arizona, with a 30% to 60% likelihood of rain late Saturday into Sunday afternoon. Snow levels are expected to drop to 5,500 to 6,500 feet, with minimal snow accumulation forecasted. The Spring Mountains may receive up to 2 inches of snow, while the eastern Sierra could see up to 3 inches above 7,000 feet.
