Election Day is this Tuesday, Nov. 5. Here’s what you need to know before you head to the polls.
1.Washoe County voting sites are prepared
Despite the pleasant forecast, Washoe County has backup plans in the event of bad weather; they also have plans in place for power outages, physical threats, cyberattacks and illness where the entire elections office might get sick.
In the event of violence or other serious situations, Washoe County has deployed panic buttons for the first time at all of its voting sites for the 2024 general election. Gov. Joe Lombardo recently activated the Nevada National Guard in the event they’re needed to help with election security.
2. Free and discounted rides to the polls available
If you’re without transportation on Election Day, RTC Washoe is providing free transit throughout the day. Riders can enter their pick-up location and destination at rtcwashoe.com or download the Transit App. Customer service is also available at (775) 348-RIDE.
The rideshare services Lyft and Uber are offering half-off rides of up to $10 on Election Day as well.
