Republican Mark Amodei is not expected to have any trouble winning reelection to his U.S. House seat over nonpartisan Greg Kidd in Nevada’s Congressional District 2 race covering the top half of the state.
• What’s at stake: A Kidd upset could allow Democrats to take a majority of seats in the House. Republicans currently have a narrow advantage. Election forecasters view a Kidd win as unlikely
The news out of this race might be how close Kidd is able to make it. A better showing than Democrats in recent years could inspire Kidd to try again in 2026, perhaps as a Democrat or even a Republican.
Kidd, a wealthy Lake Tahoe tech investor, self-funded his campaign. He’s trying to win by winning Democrats and nonpartisans plus overperforming in Washoe County to counter Amodei’s overwhelming advantage in Nevada’s rural counties.
Kidd has made hints that he will run again.
Amodei has held the seat since 2011.
