With more than 95% of ballots counted, the fate of Nevada’s ballot questions is known.
Of seven statewide questions, voters approved five and rejected two. Washoe County also rejected a library funding question.
Here are the latest results as of Friday afternoon from the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office.
Nevada Question 1 — Nevada Board of Regents oversight — FAILED
A “yes” vote would’ve given the Nevada Legislature more oversight over the Board of Regents, which is the governing body for the state’s universities and colleges.
- Yes: 587,161 votes (45.3%)
- No: 707,837 votes (54.7%)
Nevada Question 2 — disabilities language — PASSED
A “yes” vote would update language within the Nevada Constitution related to physical disabilities, removing terms such as “deaf and dumb” and “insane.” It becomes law this year.
- Yes: 856,123 votes (65.8%)
- No: 444,974 votes (34.2%)
Nevada Question 3 — ranked-choice voting and open primaries — FAILED
A “yes” vote would amend the state Constitution to all Nevada voters to participate in open primary elections and to rank up to 5 candidates by preference.
