LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Colder temperatures are here, and many people are starting to turn on their heaters, but at what cost?
There are two main factors that could be affect your bill this season: changes in usage and changes in the cost of gas
According to the Southwest Gas website, the average monthly natural gas bill for Nevada customers is expected to decrease for Southern Nevada customers, however, the actual bill may be higher or lower depending on specific usage.
Frank Sharp is already prepped and ready to go for the winter season.
“The best thing is to make sure your filters are up to date and changed, otherwise it’ll drain your power and cost more and try to do space heaters,” Sharp said.
He lives in a two bedroom home and runs his fireplace at night instead of the heater to cut down on his bill.
“I’ll get a log. It’s not that expensive, Smiths has deals like 2 for $4 or 2 for $5 and it’ll burn for 4 hours but at that time you’re going to bed,” Sharp added. “Before that, it was $130, $140 after that it went down to $118, $110.”
