LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nevada Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro announced the Education through Accountability, Transparency, and Efficiency (EDUCATE) Act which aims to facilitate a conversation about accountability across all facets of the education system during the 2025 legislative session.

The five key components are:
- Qualified teachers and staff for every school and every classroom
- Improving student outcomes and achievement
- Giving kids a head start by expanding pre-k programs
- Improved accountability measures for all publicly funded schools
- Planning for the future of public education in Nevada
Qualified teachers and staff for every school and every classroom
The act plans to fund the continuation of nearly 20% raises for educators, support professionals, and school resource officers passed as part of the Nevada Legislature’s historic 2023 education budget. It would also address Nevada’s chronic shortage of licensed educators and support staff through the Nevada Institute on Teaching and Educator Preparation (NITEP) and the statewide expansion of highly successful Alternative Routes to Licensure (ARL) and Paraprofessional Pathways Project (PPP) programs.
