News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Hilda Estevez says to expect rainy conditions and cloudy skies.
NEW & NOW: Tracking moderate – heavy rain band across northwest New Jersey and into Connecticut.
Radar estimates indicate close to 2-2.5″ inches across Sussex County, Jefferson, Dover, Bulter, on I-287 and I-80 this morning. Additional rain is expected to amount closer to 1″ flurry chance is slim with mild temperatures and warm surfaces in New Jersey. Better chance for that pre-dawn Monday. Slick roads are possible. In Connecticut, snow potential is greater later tonight after rain when temperatures drop slightly. The forecast is still TOO mild to support significant (even 1-3″) snow accumulations yet, monitoring. Slick early morning commute for Connecticut. Winds increase this afternoon and could help snow action into Monday.
NEXT: After this system Monday evening, weather turns quiet, dry and seasonable into February.
TODAY & TONIGHT: Rainy morning, some pockets of moderate-heavy rain band set up across northwestern New Jersey likely into 12 p.m. Clouds linger, and winds crank up near 20-35 mph. After 5 p.m., isolated sprinkles push through and colder air aloft in Connecticut could make for flurries. With wet, warm pavements/grounds sticking accumulations are unlikely. Rain totals have increased across north New Jersey and central, western Connecticut along Interstate 84, as radar estimates near 2″ at 7 a.m. Highs near 37-41. Overnight lows near 35-39.
