VIDEO: NJ Troopers Nab Fleeing Suspects After ‘Demolition Derby’ Crashes, Shots Fired Near GWB

๐—จ๐—ฃ๐——๐—”๐—ง๐—˜: A New Jersey State Police pursuit ended in what one motorist called a “demolition derby” — and shots fired — as a driver desperately tried to escape undercover detectives on the NJ Turnpike approach to the George Washington Bridge.

Video recorded by motorists show a smoking Range Rover ramming undercover NJSP vehicles in a mad attempt at escape after the driver was surrounded by detectives in the local lanes at the split for the bridge’s upper and lower levels in Fort Lee around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7.

The driver at one point begins reversing the severely damaged Range Rover after it exchanges blows with undercover police vehicles.

A detective in a State Police vest stands in the middle of the road, points his gun with both hands as another is heard repeatedly shouting “Get out of the car!”

The vehicle vanishes from the camera’s view.

Seconds later, two gunshots are heard. Where they came from inside or outside the vehicle couldn’t be determined.

The Range Rover slowly rolls forward, back into the frame, its back window shattered.
