Map shows heavy snowfall could hit parts of the Northeast due to winter storm

Some parts of the Northeast of the United States could see up to a foot of snow when a winter storm hits the area on Monday, according to this map produced by The National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center. The storm could be set to last until Tuesday and bring snow to Pennsylvania stretching to the Catskills and into the Hudson Valley in New York.

According to Frank Pereira, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center, the heaviest snowfall could be set for north of New York City . It is expected that on Monday evening there will be heavy rain, which will turn to snow by Tuesday, forecast David Stark, who is a meteorologist for the Weather Service office in New York, as reported by The New York Times.

New York City and parts of Long Island are expected to see one to two inches of snow after the storm hits. Meanwhile, heavier snow is forecast in New Jersey , areas of the Lower Hudson Valley, and also Southern Connecticut. Up to nine inches of snow could fall in these localities, per the weather map .
