NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A recall due to potentially contaminated cucumbers which was made last month has been extended to more states and additional vegetables sold mainly at Walmart and Aldi, as well as other stores.
Shoppers who have recently purchased cucumbers, peppers, or squash from Walmart, Aldi, Kroger, Save-a-Lot, Shop ‘n Save, and Foodland should check the list of produce at risk for listeria contamination.
Wiers Farm, based in Ohio, initially issued the recall on June 12 for whole and salad cucumbers in three states due to potential listeria contamination. The company has now extended the list of vegetables and states “out of an abundance of caution,” according to the FDA.
The extension follows an investigation by the Michigan Department of Agriculture. The products involved in this expanded recall were packed between July 5-12, 2024.
Wiers Farm stated it “is committed to implementing all measures necessary to fully resolve this situation.”
“There have been no illnesses or consumer complaints reported to date,” the FDA stated.
